Ready to compile the final version of a departmental report with sections submitted by various stakeholders? Here’s how to quickly remove all the formatting, so you can easily give the document a unified appearance:

Microsoft Word
Press the Control (PC) or Command (Mac) key and simultaneously type the letter A to select all of the text in the document. Next, click the Clear All Formatting icon () on the upper left portion of the Home tab to quickly strip away all of the formatting. Note that any graphics or hyperlinks in the document will remain.

Google Docs
Press the Control (PC) or Command (Mac) key and simultaneously type the letter A to select all of the text in the document. (Or, click the Edit menu and click Select all.) Next, click the Format menu and select Clear formatting. Note that any graphics or hyperlinks in the document will remain.

Bonus Tip: To paste text into a web form or Google Doc without the formatting, simultaneously press the Control, Shift and V keys (PC) or Command, Shift and V keys (Mac).
